location
Shady Gums is located in the spectacular Grampians National Park.
Shady Gums is in the heart of Halls Gap , a small village set in a gap in the Mountains. The Grampians National Park is famous for its unique rock formations, waterfalls, wildlife and walking trails.
There is a beautiful accessible bike/walking path meandering through the trees directly in front of the property. This sealed bike/walking path connects to the whole village. It begins with the Hotel at the entrance to the valley, goes through the centre of town to Lake Bellfield. The track is 7 km in length.
Brambruk is the National Park & Indigenous Cultural Centre for Grampians National Park. It is a 5 minute walk along the accessible path from the front of the property. It includes a Bush Food Café, Tourist shop and Museum that tells local indigenous stories from the past.
The village centre is approximately 2.4km along the sealed bike/walking path. There you will find a variety of cafes, restaurants and shops as well as art galleries, picnic/ barbecue areas, botanic gardens, historical room and numerous bushwalking trails. There is a well stocked supermarket, chemist, petrol station and even a micro brewery.
In the opposite direction is Lake Bellfield approximately 3 km away. There is an accessible walking path along the dam wall with spectacular views of the mountain peaks either side.
